Family Counselling Centre

A meeting in progress at the Family Counselling Centre

A project for empowering women of all classes and helping them to get social recognition through Family Counselling Centre (FCC) is being implemented since July 2006 in collaboration with the Central Social Welfare Board, New Delhi.

The project aims to improve the quality of life for individual, families and communities by helping people to make positive changes in their lives and empowering them to make healthy and effective choices.

FCC registers the family cases/disputes and solves them in the village or at the FCC office by calling both the parties and coming to some mutually agreeable decision in two-three rounds. It organises legal awareness camps and locality meetings for propagation of this idea and disseminates information on laws and acts.

For constant monitoring and smooth functioning of FCC, a committee comprising of the District Welfare Officer, Superintendent of Police, Social Workers, and Lawyers has been set up. This committee holds quarterly meetings and provides necessary guidance to it.

SMVM is getting overwhelming support from various quarters. With this support, it has become conducive to solve problems without losing dignity and self esteem.
